James A. Johnson

NORTH SMITHFIELD - James A. Johnson, 83, of Woonsocket Hill Rd., died August 21, 2014 in Pine Grove Health Center, Pascoag. He was the husband of Ruth T. (Martin) Johnson whom he married September 29, 1956. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Gerald and Agnes (Brook) Johnson.
A Korean War Air Force Veteran, Mr. Johnson worked as an assistant to the superintendent of King Phillip Regional School, Wrentham. He was an avid fisherman, hiker and cross country skier.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, James Johnson and his wife Nicole of Providence, a daughter, Jennifer Johnson of Greenville and a grandson, Nathaniel Johnson. He was the brother of the late Raymond Johnson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 10 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church St., No. Smithfield. Calling hours are omitted. Arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket.
