BURRILLVILLE - Wilfred F. "Pete" Carter Jr., 88, of Pascoag, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010 in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. He was the husband of the late Rose (Wojtalik) Carter.
Born in Pascoag, he was the son of the late Wilfred Sr. and Alice (Eldridge) Carter.
A lifelong resident of Pascoag, he was the owner and trainer of thoroughbred race horses and also worked for Hale Manufacturing Co. formerly of Putnam, CT. Pete served in the Army during WWII as a Staff Sergeant. He was a member of VFW Post Putnam, CT and enjoyed hunting, fishing, his horses and was an avid New York Yankees fan.
He is survived by a son, Wilfred F. "Skee" Carter III and his wife Cheryl of Mapleville, a daughter, Sandra Carter-Lafortune and her husband Roland of Pascoag, two brothers, James Carter of Harrisville and Donald Carter of Mapleville, four sisters, Martha Cupka of Douglas, MA, Rose Marceau, Thelma Putman and Beatrice Guilbault, all of Pascoag, two grandchildren, Christopher Carter and Melissa Gambardelli, three great grandchildren, and his dog, Rosie. He was predeceased by two brothers, Harold Carter Sr. and Walter Carter Sr.
His funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010 at 10:30 am in the Boucher Funeral Home, 272 Sayles Ave. Pascoag. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Pascoag Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm in the funeral home.
