McGair: Predictions for Tuesday's playoff football action

November 30, 2010

Usually I stay away from making predications, particularly on the high school front. Still, with so many area teams competing in Tuesday night’s semifinal round, I thought it would be a good as time as any to gaze into the crystal ball.
With that in mind, here’s one reporter’s feeling on what may transpire this evening (home team in caps):

TOLMAN 21, St. Raphael 7
This won’t be the blowout we saw in September, yet it won’t be close to the point that the game comes down to the final five minutes.

Woonsocket 35, CHARIHO 14
The defending champion Villa Novans will lock up the other half of the Division II Super Bowl showdown we’ve been anticipating for the past month or so.

HENDRICKEN 17, East Providence 14
The Townies were a couple plays away from handing the Hawks a loss in October, though it’s worth noting that a No. 4 seed in Division I has never advanced to the Super Bowl.

MOSES BROWN 20, Lincoln 18
This one figures to go down to the wire as the Quakers gain revenge on the Lions for beating them back in October.

EXETER/WEST GREENWICH 35, North Smithfield 20
Scarlet Knights running back Al Georgio enjoys one of his patent productive nights as the curtain gets lowered on the Northmen’s Cinderella season.
