Plante scores 7 goals in Mount's 10-0 romp

December 3, 2010

Mount St. Charles looks like it might have another strong team this season. Here's last year's unbeaten state champs.

WOONSOCKET – Trevor Plante had a night to remember.
The senior standout scored seven goals and also had an assist as defending state champion Mount St. Charles Academy kicked off its season in convincing fashion on Friday with a 10-0 squashing of Division I newcomer Barrington at Adelard Arena.
Plante had two natural hat tricks in the rout. He scored the first three goals in the game as Mount took a 4-0 advantage in the first period. Derek Deschene had the other tally.
After Mike Magerman netted a goal at the 4:39 mark of the second period on an assist by Plante, the MSC star was at it again with four consecutive goals that carried into the third period.
Zach Sambrosky finished with six assists and Alex Erban also scored for the Mounties, who were 17-0-1 last year en route to their third straight state title.
The Mounties out-shot the Eagles by an eye-popping 59-15 margin.
Next up for Mount is a Friday date with Lincoln at Thayer Arena.
