SMITHFIELD – After two games of the young season, Mount St. Charles has outscored its opponents by a 21-0 margin.
“We’ve got some firepower,” Mount coach Dave Belisle admitted after the Mounties blanked Smithfield 11-0 on Saturday night. “We have a great first line. But what we’ve also found out is this team has a lot of depth.”
The usual suspects did most of the early scoring for Mount. Zach Samborsky, Brian Campbell and Trevor Plante got their goals, although Plante netted just one after scoring seven in Friday’s 10-0 romp over Barrington.
The Mounties also got three goals from Callan Morisseau. Brian Belisle chipped in with a goal and four assists.
Campbell and Samborsky scored two goals apiece while keying the first line with their pal Plante.
Mount outshot Smithfield, 49-17. The defending state champs will return to action on Saturday night when they face Lincoln in a 7 p.m. game at Thayer Arena in Warwick.
