Peter Klara

NORTH SMITHFIELD - Peter Klara, 94, a resident of the St. Antoine Residence, passed away peacefully on Sunday at the Residence.
Born August 5, 1916, in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Martin & Stefania (Wawszkiewicz) Klara. He resided in Woonsocket and also in Blackstone, MA before entering the St. Antoine Residence.
Peter was a steward for the former Woonsocket Tanks Football Club on River St. for many years retiring in 1990. He was a WWII Navy veteran, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was an avid New England & New York Yankee sports fan.
He leaves a brother Martin F. Klara of Woonsocket and a sister Jennie Klara of No. Smithfield, also several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Jacob Klara, Anna Pristawa & Helen Bienkiewicz.
His funeral with be Thursday at 9:30 AM from the Kubaska Funeral Home, 33 Harris Avenue, Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in the St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 174 Harris Avenue, Woonsocket. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation hours are Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
