NO. SMITHFIELD- Alice M. (Nadeau) Joyal, 81, a lifelong resident of Woonsocket, died peacefully, Monday, December 13, 2010 in St. Antoine Residence, No. Smithfield surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Normand G. Joyal.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Aglae (Laprise) Nadeau-Cournoyer.
Mrs. Joyal worked eleven years as an L.P.N. for Landmark Medical Center, retiring in 1991. Alice's joy was her family and she had a wonderful sense of humor. She attended the former St. Clare High School, Woonsocket, graduated from the CCRI Nursing Program, was a communicant of All Saints Parish, Woonsocket and was active in many local organizations, including YMCA Senior Fitness.
She is survived by a son, David Joyal of Sweden, seven daughters, Claudette Quiray and her husband Joseph of Harrisville, Elaine Joyal of Tempe, AZ, Carol Capron-Roby and her husband Michael of Dayville, CT, Elizabeth Joyal of Irvine, CA, Anita Guilbault of Woonsocket, Jane Talbot of Pascoag and Susan Farley of Oakland, CA, a brother, Raymond Nadeau of Lincoln, three sisters, Evelyn Carriere and Florence Gelinas, both of Woonsocket and Lena Denault of Peterborough, NH, fourteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a lifelong family friend, Solange Dispirito of No. Smithfield. She was the sister of the late Gustave, Emile, Donat, Normand and Albert Nadeau, Louise Cologne and Doris Martin.
Her funeral will be held Friday, December 17, 2010 at 10AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in the St. Antoine Residence Chapel, 10 Rhodes Ave., No. Smithfield. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manville. Calling hours are Thursday from 5-8PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Antoine's Activities Fund, 10 Rhodes Ave., No. Smithfield, RI 02896.
