WOONSOCKET- Walter S. Korzeniowski, 91, of East School St., passed away peacefully on Dec. 14, 2010 at Landmark Medical Ctr. He was the loving husband of the late Stella (Dtugokinski) Korzeniowski.
Born March 26, 1919 in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Steve and Lena (Gruczka) Korzeniowski. He also resided in Uxbridge, MA. For many years before coming back to Woonsocket.
Walter was a Welder and Machinist for the former Draper Corp. in Hopedale, MA, for 29 years retiring in 1979. Before the Draper Corp. he was also a welder for the Woonsocket Welding & Body Works Co.
His favorite pastime was Auto & Stock car racing, which he owned his own racing car #222. He raced at various New England Speedways, especially in Thompson, CT.
He leaves a son Walter S. Korzeniowski of Newport, RI , a Daughter: Sandra L. Wojcicki of Woonsocket, a Sister Sophie Anderson of Woonsocket, 4 Grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Peter Korzeniowski.
His Funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 AM from the Kubaska Funeral Home, 33 Harris Ave., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 174 Harris Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Uxbridge, MA. Relatives & friends are invited. Visitation hours are Friday from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M.
