Antonio F. Gabriel
NORTH ATTLEBORO- Antonio F. Gabriel, 85, of Leo P. Sarrazin Road, North Attleboro; formerly of Woonsocket, Rhode Island; died following a long illness on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham where he had been a resident for more than three years. He was the beloved husband of Judite (Moreira) Gabriel with whom he celebrated 58 years of marriage.
Born in Melo, Portugal on January 10, 1925, he was a son of the late Jose and Anna (Gomes) Gabriel. Raised and educated in his native country, Mr. Gabriel immigrated to the United States in May of 1972 and settled in Woonsocket, Rhode Island where he resided until moving to North Attleboro in 1998.
He was employed as a laborer for Ocean State Finishing Company in Woonsocket from 1975 until his retirement in 1989.
An ardent sports enthusiast, Mr. Gabriel treasured the time spent saltwater fishing with a special interest in the time spent fishing in the shadows of the Mount Hope Bridge in Bristol, Rhode Island.
He was a member of the Portuguese Continental Union - Lodge #20 in Woonsocket for more than 30 years.
Mr. Gabriel was a communicant of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in North Attleboro.
In addition to his wife of 58 years, he leaves two children: Jose Gabriel and his wife, Jessica (McNulty) Gabriel, and their children: Jillian and Felicia Gabriel all of North Attleboro and Isabel (Gabriel) Valente and her husband, Dionisio Valente, and their son: Daniel Valente all of North Attleboro; two brothers: Joaquim Gabriel and Jose Gabriel both in Portugal and numerous nieces and nephews residing in the United States, Portugal and France.
He was the brother of the late Salvador, Maria and Eduardo.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 8:00 AM from "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro with the Rev. David A. Costa, Pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Blackstone, Massachusetts.
Following cemetery services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced.
