Robert N. Poirier, Sr.

CUMBERLAND- Robert N. Poirier, Sr., Mendon Rd., passed peacefully with his five sons at his side, on Sunday, December 19, 2010 in Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of the late Catherine Thatcher (O'Connell) Poirier and the late Helene (Caine) Poirier.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Arthur C. and Mena (Bazinet) Poirier.
He worked as a mechanical inspector for the former Sandvik Industries Lincoln, retiring in 1994. A Korean War Army Veteran, he enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his companion, Lucille Namaka of Cumberland, five sons, David L. Poirier of Peterborough, NH, Robert N. Poirier of Loudon, NH, Charles A. Poirier of No. Smithfield, John R. Poirier of Harrisville and Kenneth R. Poirier of No. Smithfield, three sisters, Simone Lamontagne of No. Smithfield, Jeanne Tessier and Suzanne Bruneault, both of Woonsocket, fourteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.. He was the brother of the late Arthur Poirier, Alice Pyre, Phyllis Cook and Florence Boiteau.
His funeral will be held Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 8AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket, then proceeding to RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter for prayers and burial with Military Honors. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5 - 8PM.
