BURRILLVILLE- Courtemanche, Emile A. died Monday in hospice care at the St. Antoine Residence in North Smithfield. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lucille (Blanchard) Courtemanche of Pascoag.
Mr. Courtemanche was father of the late Diane C. Lang and leaves a son-in-law, Gregory J. Lang of Cranston.
Born in North Attleboro, MA to the late Edmond and Yvonne (Beauchene) Courtemanche, he is also survived by his sister Jeannette Howard of Whitinsville, MA. He was predeceased by his brothers Arthur, Maurice, and Hector, and by his sister Madeleine Beauregard.
A longtime communicant of St. Joseph's Parish in Pascoag, Mr. Courtemanche was self employed at Pascoag Tile for 11 years before joining the Harrisville Water Department, where he retired as Superintendent after 15 years of service. He was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department with Pascoag Hose # 2 for nearly 20 years, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 383 for 57 years.
Mr. Courtemanche was an avid hunter and fan of the races in New Hampshire, as well as a motorcycle enthusiast. He and his wife traveled often, and particularly enjoyed a trip to the Canadian Rockies to commemorate their 50th Anniversary. Mr. Courtemanche was a true outdoors man, and enjoyed sharing his interests with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to many nieces and nephews, he is survived by his granddaughters, Andrea Putt of Westport MA, Katherine and Jennifer Lang of South County, and Melanie London of Austin, TX, who will remember him as a spirited, generous, and loving soul. He also leaves his great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Cooper, whom he cherished.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Mr. Courtemanche.
His funeral will be Friday from the Keene-Brown Funeral Home, Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Pascoag. Burial at Patrick's Cemetery, Pascoag. Calling hours are Thursday, 4-7. In lieu of flowers, donations to Visiting Nurse Service of Greater RI at 6 Blackstone Valley Place Suite 515 Lincoln, RI 02865 are appreciated.
