NORTH SMITHFIELD- Leo W. Fleury, Sr., 84, of Providence Pike, North Smithfield, died Sunday at Greenville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, Greenville. He was the husband of Helen (Fontaine) Fleury whom he married October 20, 1945.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Herve and Rena (Bergeron) Fleury.
Mr. Fleury worked nineteen years as an export shipping supervisor for A.T. Cross Co., Lincoln, retiring in 1987. He had also been a fifteen year owner of the former Paragon Recreation Bowling Alleys, Woonsocket. A WWII Navy Veteran, he was a Communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church and third degree knight for the Freehill Council, Knights of Columbus, No. Smithfield.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Leo Fleury, Jr. of No. Smithfield and John Fleury of Glastonbury, CT, two brothers, Edward and Herve Fleury, both of Woonsocket, two sisters, Doris Bouley and Beatrice Glode, both of Woonsocket, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Normand Fleury and brother of the late Normand and Theodore Fleury and Theresa Picard and Rita Gorman.
His funeral will be held Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 9AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, Church St., No. Smithfield. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are omitted.
