BELLINGHAM- Constance I. (Cummings) Peter, 73, of Bellingham, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at St. Camillus Health Center of Whitinsville, MA with her family by her side.
Born on May 14, 1937, she was the daughter of the late William S. and Myrtle (Van Buskirk) Cummings. She was the beloved wife for 51 years of Paul H. Peter. She was the loving mother of David Peter and his wife, Deborah, of Sutton, MA, Debra L. Castelli of Uxbridge, MA and Diane L. Gallant and her husband, Michael of Pascoag, RI; and her cherished grandchildren Derek and Daniel B. Peter, Shane M. and Sarah Gallant and Zachary Castelli. She was the sister of Malcolm Cummings of Boston, MA and the late Gilbert Cummings and Lloyd Smith.
A resident of Bellingham for 49 years, she was formerly of Boston, MA. She worked for the Bellingham School District as a pre-school teacher for Operation Head Start for 20 years and also served as the Children's Librarian for the Town of Bellingham Library retiring 8 years ago. She was a Friendly Visitor for the Bellingham Senior Center volunteering for 6 years. An avid crafter, knitter and sewer, she made her own wedding dress. Devoted to her family, she will be greatly missed.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 28, at 7:30PM at CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA. Visiting hours are from 5 to 7:30PM prior to funeral service. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Blackstone Valley CATS, c/o Eileen Russo, P.O. Box 819, Northbridge, MA 01534.
