BLACKSTONE- DiLibero, (Allaire), 95, of Blackstone, MA, passed away in her home on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. She was married to the late John W. DiLibero for fifty-three years.
She was born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Darius and Emma (Lavallee) Allaire.
She was a 1944 graduate of the Milford Hospital Nursing School in Milford MA, where she became a Registered Nurse, and earned her Bachelor's degree from Rhode Island College in Early Childhood Education in 1972. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Milford and Woonsocket Hospitals until becoming a school nurse for the Blackstone School System in 1968. She retired in 1980 and formed Little People's Day Care, where she served as Director.
With her husband John, she co-founded the Blackstone Valley Adult Counseling Center. She was active in Worcester County 4-H from her teens throughout her adult life. She worked as the 4-H Camp Nurse for twenty years and lead 4-H youth programs in Blackstone through the fifties and sixties. She served on the board of the Blackstone Council on Aging. She volunteered with the Rhode Island Red Cross and was a Eucharistic Minister at Saint Paul's Church. She was an avid skier and fittingly passed on a snowy, sunny day.
Rita is survived by her four sons John (Chip) and his wife Christine of Blackstone, MA, Michael and his wife Susan of Uxbridge, MA, James (Jay) and his wife Carol of Blackstone, MA, and William and his wife Jeanne of North Kingstown, RI, and two daughters Mary and her husband Peter Dispigno of Foster RI, and Diane Wilkens and her husband Christopher of Narragansett, RI; fourteen grandchildren, Angela, John, Joseph, Henry, Tierra, Alison, Christopher (CJ), Anne Marie, Justin, Sarah, Joshua, Tyler, Richard and Sophia; six great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Matthew, Emma, Christopher, Samantha, and Xavier; and close friend Kisoon Lee and her children Catherine and Andrew of Blackstone, MA; her brothers Steven of Blackstone MA, Charles of Mendon MA, sisters Alice and Lucille of Blackstone MA, and Vivian of Mansfield, MA, and many nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held at 9:00 am, Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from the James E. Kellett and Son Funeral Home, 38 Main Street, Blackstone, MA followed by a Mass at 10:00am in Saint Paul's Church , St. Paul s Street, Blackstone, MA. Visiting hours are Tuesday, December 28, 2010 from 4-7 pm.
