CHICOPEE- Joseph H. Allard, age 81, passed away on Dec. 30, 2010 at home surrounded by family. He was born on March 19, 1929 in Woonsocket, RI, a son of the late Alfred and Leontine (Desrosier) Allard.
Joseph worked as a service technician for Punderson Oil for many years before he retired. He was a former communicant of Assumption Church before becoming a communicant at Ste. Rose de Lima Church. Joseph was also a former member of the Chicopee Elks Lodge #1849. He is predeceased by his first wife, Gilberte (Maclure) Allard, who passed away in 1995.
He leaves: his second wife, Jeanette Lemay (Brodeur) Allard, of Chicopee; 2 sons, Ronald Allard and his wife, Patricia of Springfield and Kenneth Allard and his wife, Marie of Monson; his daughter, Carolyn Couture and her husband, Robert of Springfield; 1 brother, Rene Allard and his wife, Pauline, of RI; 2 sisters, Constance Maclure and her husband, Bertrand of Woonsocket, RI and Jeannine Desmarais and her husband, Oscar, of RI; his daughter-in-law, Deborah Allard; 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 step-daughters, Rosemarie and her wife, Lauri Brodeur-Heihsel of Northampton, Nancy Pajak and her husband, Stanley of Chicopee and Sandra Santos and her husband, Louis of Granby. He is predeceased by: his brother, Arthur Allard; his sister-in-law, Cecile Allard; his sister, Beatrice Gagne and his brother-in-law, Leonidas Gagne.
A funeral service will be held on Mon. Jan. 3, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. from the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St., Chicopee, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Mary Mother of Hope Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sun. Jan. 2, 2010 from 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baystate VNA & Hospice, 50 Maple St., P.O.
