WOONSOCKET â€“ Mount St. Charles tuned up for tonightâ€™s showdown with Moses Brown with a 6-4 win over Cranston West Friday night at Adelard Arena. The Mounties took a 4-3 lead heading into the final period before striking twice in a six-minute span.
Mount, now 6-0 in Division I, jumped out to a 3-1 lead after one period on goals by Zach Samborsky, Ben Handanyan and Trevor Plante. The lead grew to 4-1 early in the second period before the Falcons scored the next two goals to narrow the gap to one heading into the final stanza.
The Mounties wasted no time regaining their scoring touch as Michael Rocchio scored 1:27 in with Samborsky making it a 6-3 game with his second tally of the night less than five minutes later. Daniel Foster was called upon to make 25 stops for the Mounties while the Falconsâ€™ Brian Brothers stopped 52-of-59 shots.
Tonight the Mounties head to Warwickâ€™s Thayer Arena with a matchup with Moses Brown, which improved to 6-1 after taking down Barrington, 9-1, on Friday.

E.P. routs Warwick Vets
PAWTUCKET --- After scoring just nine goals in its first four games, East Providence High broke out offensively in a big way on Friday night.
James Hall scored three goals, Dave Donahue added two goals and as many assists, and Trevor Medeiros had a goal and two assists to lead the Townies to a 9-0 conquest of a severely shorthanded Warwick Vets High team in their Division III affair at Lynch Arena.
The Townies, who improved to 2-3, outshot the â€™Canes by a 36-6 count and scored twice in each of the first two periods before erupting for five goals in the final 12 minutes of play.
Keith Marquis, Joshua Rocha, and Harrison Jones each added a goal and an assist for the Townies, and Ryan Barry also had multiple assists.
The Hurricanes, who fell to 1-5, dressed just 10 players for the contest, and had one of their eight skaters get thrown out of the game early in the second period for a dangerous hit from behind.
The Townies are back at Lynch tonight for a 7:30 p.m. game against West Warwick High.

Woonsocket falls short
WOONSOCKET -- Woonsocket High remained winless in six games on Friday night by dropping a 13-0 verdict to Cranston East High in Division III action at Adelard Arena.
Ryan Hyatt scored five goals for the winners, who outshot the Villa Novans by a 51-8 margin and broke open a 3-0 game after a period of play with six second-period goals. Cranston East is now 5-1-1.
The Novans are back in action tonight at Adelard with a 7:30 p.m. contest against Tolman High.
