CUMBERLAND - Guy Jarret, 69, of Valley View Drive, born in St. Charles, Canada, on March 31, 1941, died at home Sunday, January 9, 2011, surrounded by his family and friends, after a long illness. He was the husband of Elaine S. (DeGrange) Jarret. He was the son of the late Albert and Marie Rose (Remy) Jarret.
Guy was a truck driver for the Teamsters Local 251 for over 30 years driving for New Penn, retiring in 2003. Guy was an active member of the Elks and a past President of the Cercle Laurier. He enjoyed coaching Colt League baseball and was an active woodworker, spending hours in his workshop. He loved outdoor decorating for ALL the holidays which displayed all of his many handmade crafts.
He was a communicant of St. Joan of Arc Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister until his illness.
He is survived by his sons, David, and his wife Cathy, Jeffrey, and his wife, Carolyn, and Steven Jarret, and his wife Patricia, all of Woonsocket, daughter, Donna Provoyeur, and her husband, Gary, of Cumberland, and Michael DeGrange, and his wife, Mary-Beth of Gloucester and 15 grandchildren. He is survived by his 3 brothers, Aldo Jarret of Canada, Roger Jarret of Cumberland, Michael Jarret of Bellingham and 5 sisters Denise Lafayette of Millville, Huguette Giguere of Blackstone, Doris Allard of Glendale, Sue Jarret of Cumberland, and Paulette Roberts of Texas. Brother of the late Marcel, Phil, Dennis and Andre Jarret.
A celebration of his life will be held Friday at 9 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Joan of Arc Church, Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
