Armand A. Suffoletto

NEW BEDFORD, MA- Armand A. Suffoletto, 91, of Dartmouth, MA, (formerly of Woonsocket and Lincoln RI), passed away Friday, January 14, 2011 after a long illness. He was the husband of Rena M. (Desmarais) Suffoletto of Dartmouth.
Born in Woonsocket, the son of the late Guiseppe and Margarita (Chicorella) Suffoletto, he and his wife lived in Woonsocket and Lincoln and were communicants of St. Anthony's Church until moving to Dartmouth in 2006.
He was employed as a Lieutenant in charge of fire prevention with the Woonsocket Fire Dept., Deputy Fire Marshal with the State of Rhode Island, Director of Public Safety for the University of Rhode Island, and Director for Woonsocket Housing Authority for twenty years prior to retirement.
Mr. Suffoletto served the United States Navy during W.W.II in the Pacific Theatre where he received seven Bronze Stars. He attended Rhode Island School of Design and in 1950 received a Certificate in Chemical Dying. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Sons of Italy and the Italian Working Men's Club.
Survivors include his widow, three sons: Mark Suffoletto of Sarasota, FL; Dino Suffoletto and his wife Doris of Smithfield, RI; and Guy Suffoletto and his wife Susan of Fairhaven, MA; a daughter: Deborah Edgar and her husband Steve of Tallahassee, FL; two sisters: Marty Suffoletto and Mitzi LaPlume both of Woonsocket; 8 grandchildren, 5 great- grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Mary Rotatori, Nellie Esposito, Frieda Pisini, Rose Grassi, Ben, Tony, Dominic, Alfred, Henry, Eugene, and John Suffoletto.
Private arrangements are at the request of the family.
