WOONSOCKET- Louis Viscione, 93, of Woonsocket, died Friday, January 14, 2011 in The Holiday Retirement Home in Lincoln. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Santucci) Viscione.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Paul and Antonia (Calce) Viscione and step-son to Guiseppe "Dick" DiSalvo. He lived in Woonsocket for most of his life.
Mr. Viscione worked as Manager for WWII Memorial Park in Woonsocket for ten years, before retiring in 1982. He was also a Manager for the former United Public Market in Woonsocket and also a chef for the former Delasta's New Moon, also in Woonsocket, both for twenty-five years. He was very devoted to his grandchildren. A man of few words, he is remembered for his smile. Mr. Viscione was skillful at Masonry and Carpentry. He was an avid bowler, loved gardening and cooking and enjoyed attending the dog races in Lincoln. He served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Patricia Gaudreau of Woonsocket, two grandchildren, Peter Louis Gaudreau and Amanda Fitzgerald and her husband Kevin, two great grandsons, Aiden and Dylan Fitzgerald, his half brother, Alfred DiSalvo and his wife Shirley of No. Smithfield. He was preceded in death by his brother Peter Viscione and his three sisters, Vivian Goretti, Mary Olivastro and Edith Viscione.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM on Saturday, January 22, 2011 in St. James Church, 33 Division St., Manville. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Blackstone, MA. Calling hours are Friday, January 21, 2011 from 2-5PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket.
