David A. Emidy

WOONSOCKET- David A. Emidy, 63, of Bourassa Ave., died January 15, 2011 at home. He was the husband of Mary Jane (Shaw) Emidy.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Raymond E. and Mildred M. (Gnecco) Emidy.
David worked thirty-five years for Blackstone Valley Electric, now National Grid, retiring in 2004 as a Lineman and Crew Chief. Mr. Emidy served in the National Guard 118th Combat of Engineers from 1966 to 1972. He was a third degree Knight of the former Freehill Council, member of the National American Legion, and enjoyed spending time with his friends, fishing, and fixing all manner of things.
Beside his wife, he is survived by his son, Jeffrey D. Emidy and his wife, Melissa of Woonsocket, his cherished grandson Calvin Emidy, his mother in law, Georgina Shaw of Pascoag, two brothers, Raymond Emidy of N. Smithfield, and Thomas Emidy of Harrisville, a brother in law, David Shaw and his wife Denise of Pascoag. He was the brother of the late Donald R. Emidy and Linda Ann Emidy, PhD.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 21, 2011 at 10AM in the Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, 1409 Park Ave., Woonsocket. Calling hours are Thursday from 6 - 8PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, David would like his friends to remember him in prayer.
