NORTH SMITHFIELD- Russell A. Kafalas, 70, of No. Smithfield and formerly of Harrisville, died Jan. 16, 2011 at Mt. St, Francis Health Center, after a long struggle with Parkinsons disease. He was the beloved husband of Marjorie (Geer) Kafalas.
Born Jan. 28, 1940 in Woonsocket, a son of Florence (Brunelle) Kafalas of Slatersville and the late Constant Kafalas.
Russell worked as a Union Rep for General Motors for 32 years before retiring in 1992.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Brad Kafalas and his wife Deana of No. Providence; a daughter, Allyson Kafalas of Slatersville; brother, Donald Kafalas of Slatersville and three sisters, Joan Paulhus of NH, Joyce Serafin and Arlene Atwill both of No. Providence.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10 in St. John the Evangelist Church, Church St., Slatersville. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Egidio DiPardo & Sons Funeral Home, 75 Harris Ave., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to National Parkinson Foundation, P.O. Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
