January 30, 2011

NORTH SMITHFIELD – Town Administrator Paulette D. Hamilton will hold two Town Hall-style meetings with seniors this week at Scouter's Hall, 13 Main St.
The first will be held Tuesday, at 1:30 p.m; the second is on Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to noon.
Hamilton said this is an opportunity for residents to discuss issues that are affecting them as well as for her to provide information regarding current issues.

Meanwhile, a meeting to inform the public about The Hardest Hit Fund Rhode Island (HHFRI) program will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at The Meadows, 2 Village Way.
HHFRI is a new program aimed at preventing avoidable foreclosures by assisting homeowners who are unable to make their mortgage payments due to a documented financial hardship. In all, the U.S. Treasury has made available to Rhode Islanders $80 million to help those at risk of losing their homes.
"The Town of North Smithfield is hosting the meeting to help residents and area homeowners get accurate information that may save them from losing their homes,” Hamilton said. “Times are so difficult and we are not exempt from problems. We wanted to offer this local opportunity to help those in need.”
