Woonsocket boys lose again

Woonsocket High's long hoop season continued with another loss on Monday night.

WOONSOCKET --- Sophomore Cody L’Heureux had one of the best games of his young high school career on Monday night, as he scored 18 points in a losing cause in Woonsocket High’s 73-56 defeat at home to Cranston West High.
Jabree Roberts added 13 points and Jarome Robinson also tossed in 11 for the Villa Novans, who are 1-12 in Division I play and 4-14 overall.

Clippers lick Lincoln
CUMBERLAND --- Four players scored in double digits for Cumberland High on Monday night to help the Clippers return to their winning ways and grab a 65-58 victory over neighboring rival Lincoln High in their Division II crossover affair at the Clippers’ Wellness Center.
Matt Lazarus (16 points), John Andrade (15), Mike Joubert (14), and Ben Bradley (12) led the way for the Clippers, who almost had a fifth player in double digits, Ben Proctor (eight).
The Lions were led by Mike Akanji’s 15 points. Curtis Walsh added 13, and Brendan Reddington had 12.
Both teams are 5-8 in the division. The Clippers had entered the game with losses in six of their last seven games.

EWG nails Northmen
EXETER -- Matt Walkow’s game-high 18 points was the highlight of the night for North Smithfield High on Monday in the Northmen’s 68-48 defeat on the road to Division III crossover foe Exeter/West Greenwich High.
The Northmen, who fell to 6-7 in league action, will bus to Lincoln tonight for a 6 p.m. game against winless Davies Tech.

N.P. star drops 51 on C.F.
CENTRAL FALLS – A mammoth night from Austin Van Bemmelen lifted North Providence past Central Falls, 87-78, in a Division II crossover contest Monday night. Van Bemmelen finished with a game-high 51 points, including seven 3-pointers.
The Warriors, who dropped to 6-7 in Div. II-North, had three of their players hit double digits. Derrick Lopes scored a team-best 17 points, Emmett Dixon netted 12 and Ryan Murray added 11.
C.F. will be back in action on Wednesday when it travels to Shea.

Tolman stomps on Scituate
SCITUATE – Tolman High officially earned a berth in the Division II playoffs, courtesy of its 65-43 rout of Scituate on Monday night.
Troy Sawyer scored 14 points, dished out five assists, grabbed five rebounds and had a steal to highlight the Tigers’ efforts. Nkosi Scott had a game-best 17 points and teammate Eli Wiggins netted 16.
Tolman, which improved to 8-5 in Div. II-Central, plays host to Ponaganset on Wednesday.
