WOONSOCKET- Helene E. Phillips 68, of Mendon Rd. died Saturday at Landmark Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of Robert P. Phillips.
Helene was born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Armand and Celia (Laplante) Cournoyer.
She was a phlebotomist at Southwood Community Hospital in Norfolk, MA for eighteen years before retiring in 1999. Helene was an avid reader, and loved the beach, but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, Christian Phillips and his wife Michele of Cranston, Jason Phillips and his wife Kimberly of Bow, NH, two daughters Stephanie Krusz MD of Cranston, and Jessica Plumer and her husband Michael of Cumberland, four brothers Robert Cournoyer of Jamestown, Paul Cournoyer of N. Kingstown, Andre Cournoyer of Warwick, and Richard Cournoyer of Cumberland, mother-in-law Jennie Phillips of Johnston, and nine grandchildren, Haley Phillips, Tyler Krusz, Peyton Phillips, Riley Phillips, Cooper Krusz, Cody Plumer, Jenna Phillips, Luke Plumer, and Alicia Phillips.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:30 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph's Church, Mendon Rd. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visiting hours are Tuesday 4-7 PM. Please visit
