George L. Fontaine

NO. SMITHFIELD- George L. Fontaine, 81, of Smithfield Rd., died Monday, February 7, 2011 in Oakland Grove Health Care Center, Woonsocket. He was the husband of Claudette M. (Methot) Fontaine whom were married April 11, 1953.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late George J. and Blanche (Bilodeau) Fontaine.
Mr. Fontaine worked as a General Contractor for E.R. Roy General Contractors, retiring in 1998. A WWII Navy Veteran, he was an avid woodworker and reader.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael Fontaine of No. Smithfield and Russell Fontaine of Asheboro, NC, two daughters, Joanne Clark of Burriville and Cathy Fontaine of No. Smithfield and a grandson, Jordan Fontaine and his best friend, his dog, Gidget. He was the grandfather of the late Eric Mooney and brother of the late Lucien Fontaine and Jeannette Belcourt.
His funeral will be held Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 9AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham, MA. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5 - 8PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, 1409 Park Ave., Woonsocket, RI 02895.
