LINCOLN- Raymond L. Parenteau, 87, of Old River Road, died on February 5th, at Landmark Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Jeannette (Girouard) Parenteau for sixty-three years.
Born in St. Robert, Canada, he was the youngest child of Joseph and Marie (Giguere) Parenteau.
Ray worked at Argonne Worsted Co., until joining the Woonsocket Police Department in 1952. He retired in 1977 after serving for twenty-five years. After retiring, Mr. Parenteau was employed by the former Woonsocket Hospital, now Landmark Medical Center, as Chief of Security for many years.
He is survived by two daughters, Irene Blais, and her husband Lee of Woonsocket, and Louise Suzzi, and her husband Robert of Pawtucket; his cherished grandson, Russell Blais of Woonsocket; and his sister, Rose Simard of Blackstone, Mass. He was predeceased by his brothers, Ubald, Germain, and Bernard Parenteau, and his sisters, Cecile Parenteau, Marie Couture and Rachel Giguere.
Mr. Parenteau was a big band enthusiast, loved cars and enjoyed long rides to the country, and relaxing by the ocean. He will be remembered by his friendliness and his caring interest in others. He loved to be surrounded by family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Wednesday, February 9, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Ambrose Church, 91 School Street, Albion. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manville. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Wednesday morning from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at BELLOWS-FALSO FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Northern Rhode Island Hematology/Oncology Program, 115 Cass Avenue, Suite 2, Woonsocket, R.I. 02895, or to the Dialysis Support Services Fund, c/o Dialysis Center of Woonsocket, 2100 Diamond Hill Road, Woonsocket, R.I. 02895 would be appreciated.
