HAMDEN, Conn. --- Senior forwards Trevor Plante and Alex Erban each scored a pair of goals on Wednesday night to help Mount St. Charles Academy bus home with a stellar 7-3 victory over Hamden High of Hamden, Conn. in this non-league showdown.
This battle features two of New England’s state champions. The three-time R.I. champion Mounties improved their record to 17-1-1 overall, while Hamden, Connecticut’s two-time state champion and the No. 4 ranked team in its state, fell to 7-3-1.
The Mounties, who outshot the Green Dragons by a 44-19 count, roared out to a 4-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of play. The hosts came back to score the next two goals, but MSC responded by scoring their other three goals in the final 7½ minutes of the second period.
