Paul E. Plante Sr.

MANVILLE- Paul E. Plante Sr. 88, of Chestnut St. died Saturday at home. He was the husband of Grace (Laliberte) Mochnacki Plante and the late Marie J. (Lanoue) Plante.
Born January 6, 1923 in Woonsocket he was the son of the late Emile and Rose Helene (Forcier) Plante.
He lived in Woonsocket for seventy years. Mr. Plante attended Mt St. Charles Academy, Hills College, Coyne Electrical Engineering of Providence and Traffic Managers Institute of Boston. He worked for Laramee's Transit Inc. for eight years as assistant traffic manager, he was the founder of Plante's Motor Transport Inc. along with his brother Lucien R. Plante and operated the business in Woonsocket for thirty three years until retiring in 1985. He was a US Marine Corps veteran serving during WWII. Mr. Plante was a communicant of St. James Church in Manville, a member of the Woonsocket Lodge of Elks #850, and a member of the American Legion Post # 14 of Cumberland.
Besides his wife he is survived by four sons Roger Plante of Naragansett, Gerald Plante of N. Smithfield, Denis Plante of Manville, and Paul E. Plante Jr. of Woonsocket, MA two daughters Lucille Vanasse Anderson of Louisville, KY, and Diane Pugliesi of Cumberland, a sister Anita Chabot of Slatersville, a step son Ted Mochnacki of Osterville, a step daughter Nancy Ladouceur of Blackstone, eleven grandchildren, thirteen great -grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Lucien R. Plante and Solange "Sally" Fontaine.
His funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. James Church, Division St. Manville. Burial will be held in Resurrection Cemetery in Cumberland. Visiting hours are Tuesday 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers donations to the VNA of Greater RI Hospice, 6 Blacksone Valley, Suite 515, Lincoln, RI 02895 in his memory would be appreciated.
