BLACKSTONE - Constance L. "Connie" (Lacroix) Knapik, 83, formerly of Millville, died Friday, February 18, 2011 at Beaumont Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Home, Northbridge.
Born in Blackstone on November 16, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Regia (Guilbault) Lacroix.
As a young girl, Connie moved with her family to Millville and stayed to raise her own family there until moving to Early Village in Blackstone.
Connie had been a member of St. Augustine's Parish, Millville. She was former president of the St. Monica's Guild of Millville, a member of the Millville Council of Aging, and an active member and group travel coordinator for the Millville Seniors. In past years, Connie worked on the St. Augustine's Church Building Committee and the Millville Senior Center Committee; and with her husband Joe, were head chaperones for the Blackstone-Millville Regional High School marching band.
Connie owned and operated the Chestnut Craft Shop for many years where she taught craft lessons from her home. Prior to her retirement, she worked at the former Stanley Woolen retail store in Uxbridge and the former Woonsocket Dress, Woonsocket, RI.
In her free time, Connie enjoyed traveling, the beach, and spending time with her family.
She leaves behind her husband of 62 years, Joseph; her children Paul Knapik and his wife Cheryl of Newtown, CT; Marie Smith and her husband Daniel of Hopkinton, MA; and Glenn Knapik and his wife Monette of Mendon, MA. She was the loving grandmother of Heather and Joseph Knapik, Adam and Allison Smith, and Nicole and Ethan Knapik. She also leaves her sisters Laure-Abel Kloczkowski and Gabrielle Mullaly of Millville. She is predeceased by her brothers Theodore and Robert.
A memorial mass will be held on Friday, February 25, 2011 at 10:30 AM at St. Augustine's Church, Millville. Private burial will be at the Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland, RI. In lieu of flowers, donations in Connie's memory may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202.
