Richard Allen White
BLACKSTONE- Richard Allen White, 64, a resident of Blackstone for the past 39 years, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends on Monday February 28, 2011. He was the husband of Julie (Hicks) White.
Mr. White was employed for the Framingham School System until his retirement in 2006. He had previously worked for the General Motors Corp. in Framingham, Bird Machine Co. in Walpole and NEPG in Holliston.
He was born January 10, 1947 in St. Petersburg, FL, the son of the late Herbert White and Irene (Lowry) White Barrow. He was a graduate of Natick High School.
Mr. White served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Richard loved music, especially the oldies. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, spending time with family and friends and ringing the bell for the Salvation Army during the Christmas season. He was a Scout Master for Troop 59 in East Blackstone for many years and a baseball and softball coach in Blackstone. He was a member of the Christ Community Church in Blackstone and was active in RIMA Tres Dias of Massachusetts.
In addition to his wife Julie, he is survived by two sons; Bryan L. White and his wife Christy of Grafton and Mark A. White of Blackstone, one daughter Christina L. Williams and her husband Jonathan of Medway, 5 grandchildren; Trista, Arissa, Kaylee, Bailey and Zoe, one uncle, Clyde White of South Carolina, two aunts; Bonnie Hartman and Dot White, both of Florida, his brothers-in-laws; Ed Hicks and his wife Sharon and Robin Hicks and his wife Cindi, and his sisters-in-laws Sharyn Weir and Jodie and her husband Doug Crete. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law Edward Weir.
Funeral services, with full military honors, will be held Friday March 4, 2011 at 10 AM in the Christ Community Church, Church St., Blackstone 01504.
Burial will be in the spring in Blackstone Cemetery, Blackstone.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday March 3, 2011 from 5-8 PM in the Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress St., Milford 01757. Memorial donations may be made to RIMA Tres Dias, c/o Paul Chaltas, 137 Misty Harbor Way, Falmouth, MA 02536.
