CUMBERLAND- Marcel Desroches, 70, of Sleepy Hollow Drive, passed away Tuesday in the Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. He was the husband of the late Florence (Dupplessis) Deroches.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Joseph Arcade and Doria (Leblanc) McGlaughlin. He was the fiance of Janice Tessier of West Warwick.
He resided in Cumberland for the past 45 years.
He was the owner and operator of the Look 'N See Optical Shop in Woonsocket for 33 years.
He was a communicant of St. John Vianney Church, Cumberland, serving as pastoral care eucharistic minister. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Elks Lodge of Woonsocket. He was on the Advisory committee on Opticianry, the RI Association of Registered Dispensing Opticians.
He leaves a son, Marcus Desroches of Bellingham; a daughter, Kelley Dolce of Narragansett; a sister, Jeannine Labodi of California; a brother Michael McGlaughlin of Florida; and three grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Cecile Seib.
A celebration of his life will be held Friday at 9 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. John Vianney Church, Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Thursday, 4-8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to American Diabetes Association.
