BANGOR, ME - Jesse J. Grant Jr, 67, of Bangor, formerly of North Smithfield, R.I. passed away Feb. 25, 2011, at a local nursing home after an extended illness. He was born October 16, 1943 in Bangor, the son of Hilda (Harris) and Jesse J. Grant Sr.
Jesse graduated from Aroostook Central Institute in Mars Hill and received his Bachelors degree from Husson College. He served six years in the Army National Guard prior to moving to New Hampshire where he met and married the love of his life, Susan B. Davis. Jesse made a life-long career working for John Hancock Insurance as an agent and later as an investigator until his retirement, when he and Susan relocated to Maine.
He is survived by his son, David Grant of Bangor and formerly of No. Smithfield, RI; his siblings; Lester Peter Grant and Bonny Sue Coffin of Bangor; Evelyn (Grant) and Armand Bouchard of Greenbush; Merle and Leanna Grant of Millinocket; and James and Debbie Grant of Greenbush; brother-in-law, Curt Davis and his wife, Elaine of Salem, NH; father-in-law, Ralph Bissell of Windsor, VT and many special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jesse was predeceased by his wife, Susan; sister-in-law, Carolyn Grant; and mother-in-law, Earlene Bissell.
A service honoring Jesses life will be held 3 PM Friday, Mar. 4, 2011 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St. Brewer. Burial will be at a later date in Vermont. Condolences to the family may be offered at
