Brother Ronald S. Dupuis, S.C.
BURRILLVILLE- Brother Ronald S. Dupuis, S.C., (Brother Giles) 78, of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart Provincial House, Pascoag, RI, died unexpectedly March 4, 2011. Born in New Britain, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Donat Dupuis and Jeanette (Beauregard) (Dupuis) Luzi. He was the stepson of the late John Luzi.
Brother Ronald entered the Brothers of the Sacred Heart September 1, 1946 at Sharon, Massachusetts. He pronounced his first vows in 1949 and his perpetual vows in 1955.
At St. Michaels College, Colchester, VT, he completed a Bachelors Degree in 1957 and a Master of Arts in Teaching in 1964. He also completed an MA in Theology at Notre Dame Seminary, New Orleans, Louisiana.
After a consultation of the Brothers of the New England Province, Brother Ronald was called forth to ordination as a priest in 1977.
Brother Ronald was a professed religious for 62 years, serving in a variety of assignments as a teacher in New England including Sacred Heart School, Sharon, MA, Notre Dame High School Fitchburg, MA, Bishop Guertin High School, Nashua, NH, Sacred Heart Juniorate, Harrisville, RI, and Mt. St. Charles Academy, Woonsocket, RI. At Mt. St. Charles Academy, Brother Ronald served as local director of the Brothers community, chaplain to the Brothers, and chaplain to Mt. St. Charles Academy while serving in the campus ministry office.
From 1970-1976, Brother Ronald served as the Provincial Superior of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart of the New England Province, with responsibility for the Brothers in all the New England states and also in African nations where the Brothers of New England served.
Brother Ronald is survived by his sister Jacqueline McHughes of Bristol, CT, and a brother, Lawrence, of New York City.
The wake will be held at the Provincial House, 685 Steere Farm Road, Pascoag, RI, Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 2 p.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial in the Chapel of the Provincial House at 4 p.m. Burial will be in the Brothers' Cemetery in Pascoag. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brother Ronald's memory can be made to the Brothers of the Sacred Heart Retirement Fund, Business Office, Brothers of the Sacred Heart, 685 Steere Farm Road, Pascoag, RI 02859.
