Irving C. Vose

WOONSOCKET- Irving C. Vose, 84, of Woonsocket, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011 in Mt. Saint Francis Health Center, Woonsocket. He was the husband of the late Barbara (Moore) Vose.
Born in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Fred and Marion (Spellman) Vose. He lived most of his life in Cumberland.
Mr. Vose worked thirty-five years as a Produce Manager for the former Almacs Supermarket. A WWII Coast Guard veteran, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Woonsocket, where he had served as chairman of the Board of Trustees and many other committees, was a volunteer of the Cumberland Fire Dept., and was once named Fireman of the Year for an act of Courage.
He is survived by two sons, Wayne Vose of No. Smithfield and Kevin Vose of Pawtucket, a daughter, Gayle Alves of Cumberland, a brother, Robert Vose and a sister, Susan Jencks both of Cumberland, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Donald Vose.
His funeral will be held Friday, March 11, 2011, with visitation from 9 - 10AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St.,Woonsocket, followed by a service with Military Honors at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation of Rhode Island, Inc., 1117 Douglas Avenue, North Providence, RI 02904.
