JOHNSTON- Curtin Lillian Doris, 91, passed away peacefully on March 8th surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Providence, February 23, 1920 to Euclid and Cordelia (Auger) Benoit, Lillian was a graduate of Hope High School and worked for the New England Telephone Company.
After her marriage to Henry F. Curtin, July 15, 1944, she became a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She raised seven children, whom she frequently referred to as her seven jewels, and she hosted and enjoyed many family gatherings and celebrations over the years. She was an avid reader and enthusiastic gardener who loved to bake and sew.
A longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Church in North Scituate, she was a member of the Womens Guild for 63 years, and her deep faith was her life-long guide and solace. She was a lovely and enduring flower in the face of the varied joys, challenges and adversities that a full life presents.
Beloved mother of Kathryn Neidlinger of Smithfield, Stephen Curtin and wife Mary Wilke of Concord, NH, Marie Curtin and husband Duane Weber of Custer, SD, Hank Curtin of Johnston, Terese Curtin and husband William Tocco of Cumberland, and Anne Cardoza and husband Robert Cardoza of Foster; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was predeceased by: her husband of 62 years, Henry F. Curtin; her son, Mark F. Curtin; her grandson, Mark C. Curtin; her brother, Everett Benoit, and his wife Elizabeth Benoit.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, March 12 at 8:00 AM from Winfield & Sons Funeral Home, 571 West Greenville Rd., North Scituate, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Joseph Church, Danielson Pike, North Scituate. Burial to follow in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visitation Friday, March 11, 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Mount St. Rita's Health Centre, 15 Sumner Brown Road, Cumberland, RI 02864.
