Sister Emrentienne Richer (St.-Camille-d-Lellis) of the congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Saint-Hyacinthe passed away on March 10th at the age of 106.
She was born in Fortierville, Qubec, on August 18th, 1904. She entered the Community on the 19th of March 1925 and made profession on the 4th of October 1927. She served in Manchester, NH, as a teacher in her early years, then in Lewiston, Maine, as dietitian, and as a dietary teacher for the student nurses. She was also Superior of the sisters in North Smithfield, RI at St-Antoine Hospice. She was also stationed in Sherbrooke, Qubec as cook and dietitian, at St. Vincent-de-Paul Hospital. Coming back to Manchester from 1968 to 1989, she varied her activities till she came back to our Mother House in 1996 to 2009 where she continued to knit and to read, she could give us a detailed review of what she was reading, and had a very good memory for her age. She became ill in 2009, and passed away on the 10th of March 2011. Her funeral will take place a the Mother House on the 14th of March at 13:30 hr. after which she will be inhumed in the community's cemetery.
