TIVERTON, RI- Sophie (Nichola), 82, of Tiverton, RI passed away peacefully with her children by her side on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Sakonnet Bay Manor in Tiverton.
She was the wife of the late Roger E. Peloquin.
Born in Woonsocket, RI on March 6, 1929 she was the daughter of the late Paul and Constance (Coca) Nichola.
She began her career working part-time job on the student shift at U.S. Rubber Company in Woonsocket during World War Two, assisting with the manufacture of rubber rafts to support the wartime efforts. After graduating from Woonsocket High School in 1946, she held a number of positions including Sales Clerk with F. W. Woolworth and Telephone Operator with New England Telephone and Telegraph, both in Woonsocket; Teletype Operator with Western Union Telegraph Company and the U.S. Navy in Bridgeport and Stratford, CT (respectively); Sales Clerk with the former Edgar's Department store in Fall River, MA, and per final position as a clerk/typist for twelve years in the Pass and ID Office on the Navy Base in Newport, RI from which she retired in 1991.
She resided in Tiverton for the last 48 years.
She leaves behind her daughter Paula Peloquin and Gary Satagaj of Riverside, RI; her son Donald, daughter-in-law Lauren, and grandson Brock Peloquin, all of Annandale VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister, Louise Nichola of North Smithfield and was predeceased by her sister Priscilla Nichola and brothers Nicholas, Solti, and Thomas Nichola.

Arrangements are being handled by Pocasset - Memorial Funeral Home, located at 462 Main Road in Tiverton, RI (401-625-5945 or Calling hours are Wednesday, March 16, 2011 from 5 to 8 PM with a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 10 AM at St. Christophers Church, located at 1554 Main Road in Tiverton. Burial will follow at Pocasset Hill Cemetery, located on Main Road in Tiverton.
