WOONSOCKET- Antonio Dias, 97, of Warwick St., died Sunday, April 3, 2011 in St. Antoine Residence, with his family by his bedside. He was the husband of the late Maria (Gaspar) Dias, with whom he emigrated from Portugal to the U.S. in 1961. He was the son of the late Manuel and Maria (do Carmo) Dias.
Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, he and his family returned to Portugal when he was a young child.
He is survived by four sons, Jose Dias and his wife Sue and Francisco Dias and his wife Maria, all of Woonsocket, Manuel Dias and his wife Gabriela of Burrillville and Antonio Dias and his wife Ana of Portugal, two daughters, Margarida Diogo and her husband Jose of Cumberland and Emilia Lambert and her husband Roger of North Smithfield, a sister Maria Dias of Portugal, sixteen grandchildren and twenty two great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be held Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, 1409 Park Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Blackstone, MA. Calling hours are Friday from 5-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
