UXBRIDGE- Virginia (Accica) McMichael, 88, of Blackstone, MA died Tuesday, April 5, 2011 in Lydia Taft House, Uxbridge, MA. She was the wife of the late Harry X. McMichael who died in 2009.
She was born in Ashland, MA daughter of the late Galliano and Mercede (Muri) Accica.
Mrs. McMichael was a graduate of Ashland High School. She was a World War II Navy WAVES Veteran, enlisting in 1943 and discharged in 1945. She was a member of the Women's War Memorial in Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C. Mrs. McMichael was employed as an operator for New England Telephone in Framingham, MA until her marriage and then became a full time Mom to her six children. She was a devoted wife and mother who was an avid gardener and enjoyed crossword puzzles, laughing at slap stick comedy and traveling on many trips with her husband Harry to California, Bermuda, Hawaii, England, Ireland, and a cruise to Alaska. She was also a communicant at St. Paul's Parish, Blackstone, MA.
Mrs. McMichael is survived by 4 sons: Harry J. McMichael of Blackstone, MA; Robert V. McMichael of Washington, D.C.; James M. McMichael of Smithfield, RI; John C. McMichael and his wife Sue of Val Rico, FL; 2 daughters: Ellen E. McMichael of Smithfield, RI and Ann Ruscitti and her husband Nicholas of Hopedale, MA; 5 grandchildren: Marc and Ryan Montecalvo, Jonathan and Amanda McMichael, and Elizabeth Ruscitti: one great grandson: Ryan Douglas.
Mrs. McMichael's funeral will be held Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 9:00 am from the James E. Kellett and Son Funeral Home, 38 Main St., Blackstone MA followed by a mass at 10:00 am in St. Paul's Church, St. Paul St., Blackstone, MA. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery, Blackstone, MA. Calling hours are Friday, April 8, 2011 from 4:00-6:00 pm.
