Harold E. Mathewson

WOONSOCKET- Harold E. Mathewson, 80, of Main St., died Sunday, April 10, 2011 in Miriam Hospital, Providence after an illness. He was the widower of Florence T. (Grenier) Mathewson, who died in February, 1972.
Born April 24, 1930, he was a son of the late Earl and Blanche (Savignac Brouillette) Mathewson.
Mr. Mathewson served in the Naval Reserves and was a Master Electrician licensed in RI and MA. His electrical career included thirteen years at Texas Instrument, his own business, Mathewson & Sons Electric, and was an Electrical Inspector for Nantucket Island. After his retirement, he owned several antique shops and most recently worked as a handy man. Harold also piloted his own Cessna plane for ten years.
He is survived by four sons, Paul H. Mathewson and his wife Diane, Gary E. Mathewson and Kenneth E. Mathewson, all of Woonsocket, and Steven J. Mathewson of Providence, two daughters, Karen E. Graham and her husband James of GA and Gail F. Brothers of No. Smithfield, a sister Elsie Gucfa of Blackstone, MA, a brother, Edward H. Mathewson of Scituate, ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren and his dog Shane. He was the father of the late Brian P., James A. and Judith A. Mathewson and brother of the late Russell B. Mathewson.
His funeral will be held Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 10AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in St. Agatha's Church, 34 Joffre Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham, MA. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5-8PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
