WOONSOCKET- Irene (Sjoblom) Hood, 92, of Cumberland Hill Rd, died Sunday, April 10, 2011 in Oakland Grove Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Earl W. Hood.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Axel A. and Sophie (Anderson) Sjoblom.
She lived in Woonsocket for most of her life before moving to No. Smithfield in 2000.
Mrs. Hood worked twenty-three years as a Packer for the former Uniroyal Company, Woonsocket, retiring in 1970. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and the Golden Heart Seniors.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Girard of No. Smithfield and Earlene Cook of Oakland, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Carl and Frederick Sjoblom.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 1PM in St. Mark Lutheran Church, Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Smithfield Rd., No. Smithfield. Arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. Mark Memorial Fund, St. Mark Lutheran Church, 871 Harris Ave., Woonsocket, RI 02895.
