NO. SMITHFIELD- Charlotte M. (Rohner) Briggs, 78, of Woodlawn Rd., No. Smithfield, died Sunday, April 17, 2011 at home. She was the wife of the late Donald M. Briggs.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late William and Ethel (Manders) Rohner.
Mrs. Briggs worked for thirty-five years as a Nursing Aid at Mt. St. Rita Convent in Cumberland, retiring in 2000. She was active in amateur plays with the Woonsocket Fine Arts Society, a girl scout leader, a band aid mother for the No. Smithfield High School Band, an avid ballroom dancer at Irene's Dance Studio, President of No. Smithfield Lions Club, she served on the Woonsocket Finance Committee and made lap robes for the needy.
She is survived by three sons Mason Briggs of Scituate, Miles Briggs of Mendon, MA, and Martin Briggs of Woonsocket, three daughters, May Briggs of No. Smithfield, Melanie Leketa of Virginia Beach, VA, and Marlene Chickeralla of Enfield, CT, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Briggs.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 from 4 - 8PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket, with a prayer service beginning at 6PM.
