Here's how you start resolving R.I.'s budget crisis. One, raising taxes won't do it. What the state needs to do, is to cut down on spending, starting with these outrageous raises that some of the people in the general assembly have been giving out to their assistants. Gordon Fox is a prime example, giving a $30,000.00 raise to one of his assistants, which is IMO, a total waste of the state's money. Two, how about if the Governor and anyone else in the state's Government, take a 10% paycut? Third, increase taxes for those with incomes of say $400,000.00 or more. Yes, tax the rich, after all, they can afford it. Four, bring back E-Verify and have mandatory drug testing for those who are collecting welfare. That'll cut down on the amount of deadbeats who're taking advantage of the system at the taxpayer's expense. Just some food for thought!
