School Supt. Gerardi may be leaving town

April 23, 2011

WOONSOCKET - School Superintendent Robert J. Gerardi Jr. will be meeting with school officials in Maynard, Mass. this week to discuss a possible employment contract after the Maynard School Committee last week voted to hire Gerardi as its new school chief.
If Gerardi accepts the position, he would likely leave Woonsocket in June when Maynard's current superintendent, Mark Mastersin, retires. Gerardi could make a formal announcement regarding his departure as early as this week.
Gerardi has been Woonsocket's school superintendent for the past three years. Before that, he was the assistant superintendent and curriculum director for North Providence Schools, a position he held for three years.
He holds a bachelors degree from Rhode Island College; a master’s degree from Providence College; and a Ph.D from Boston College.
