WOONSOCKET- Walter M. Nowak, Jr. 92, of 262 Poplar St. passed away on Wednesday at the Woonsocket Health Center surrounded by his five grandchildren. He was the loving husband of Leona M. (Pariseau) Nowak.
Walter & Leona celebrated their 63rd. Wedding Anniversary in 2010.
Born January 16, 1919 in Bellingham, MA. He was the son of the late Walter M. & Victoria (Mikula) Nowak.
Walter was a Mailman for many years for the U.S. Postal Service before retiring. He proudly, was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.
He enjoyed going to Foxwoods, making puzzles and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four grandsons, Steven M. Nowak of Cumberland, Walter J. and Michael J. Nowak, and Kirk E. Angell all of Woonsocket. and one granddaughter, Lisa A. (Nowak) DeCoste of Chesapeake, VA.
One son Ronald E. Nowak of Florida, a brother, Edward Nowak of Cumberland. 10 great grandchildren & 2 great great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Walter J. Nowak Sr. and brother of the late John, Stanley, Joseph and Michael Nowak and Helen Wardyga.
Relatives & Friends are invited to Visitation hours on Monday, April 25th, at the Kubaska Funeral Home, 33 Harris Ave. Woonsocket. from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.. Also on Monday eve. a Funeral Service will be officiated at 7:00 P.M. in the Funeral Home. His Funeral will be Tuesday at 10:30 A.M. from the Kubaska Funeral Home and then proceed to St. Charles Cemetery in Blackstone for a committal graveside service with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers donation can be made to the to the World War II Memorial Fund P.O. Box 96074 Washington DC 20090-6074
