NORTH SMITHFIELD- Helen S. (Rumas) Lafreniere, 84, of Cider Mill Rd., died Wednesday, April 27, 2011 in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Roszkowski) Rumas.
Mrs. Lafreniere worked fifteen years at the former Woonsocket Hospital, now Landmark Medical Center, retiring in 1992. She had also worked in a number of local textile mills, including Hanora Lippett, Stillwater Worsted and Kendell. She was a member of Our Saviour's Parish, member and past president of the Ladies Auxillary for VFW,Leclair, Kozlik, Logan, Bassett Post. She enjoyed gardening and cherished time spent with her family.
She is survived by a daughter, with whom she lived, Debora Lafreniere and a sister, Eleanor Bousquet and her husband, William of Broadbrook, CT. She was the sister of the late Matthew Rumas.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, April 30, 2011 beginning with visitation at 8:30AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in Our Saviour Polish National Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Saviour Polish National Catholic Church, 500 Smithfield Rd., Woonsocket, RI 02895. www.holtfuneralhome.com
