WOONSOCKET- Bertha F. (Rutka) Moon, 97, of Rockland Ave., died Wednesday, May 4, 2011 in Landmark Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Moon. A lifelong Woonsocket resident, she was the daughter of the late Karol and Julia (Kurowska) Rutka.
Mrs. Moon worked as a Mender for forty-five years at several area textile mills, including Bachman-Uxbridge Worsted and Hanora Mills, before retiring in 1975. She also worked part-time for Burger King, Cumberland. She was a Communicant of Sacred Heart Church and member of Holy Family, Sacred Heart and Millville's Senior Citizens and the Royal Travelers.
She is survived by a daughter, Joan Hagiperos of Half Moon Bay, CA, three sisters, Julia Vaccaro of Braedenton, FL, Flora Paszkewicz and Phyllis Quesnel, both of Uxbridge, MA, five grandchildren, Geno, Robert, Wendy, Tony and Joanne and six great grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held will be held Saturday May 7, 2011, with visitation from 8:30 - 9:30AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in Sacred Heart Church, Second Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Blackstone.
