DOUGLAS- Clarassia E. (Farrar) Furno, 80, formerly of Depot St. died Tues. May 10 after a long illness.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years Thomas J. Furno; a son Steven B. and his wife Karin Furno of Millville; 2 daughters Joan R. and her husband Gary Bolen of Douglas and Angela F. and her husband Jim Hamilton of Worcester; 5 grandchildren Jeffrey, Katelyn, Lindsay, Jason, and Melissa; a brother John "Buster" Farrar of Douglas; a sister Shirley A. and her husband Richard Downs of Douglas; and several nephews and nieces. She was sister of the late Eleanor Benoit who died in 1962.
Born in Northbridge on Nov. 30, 1930 she was the daughter of Bernard S. and Lucy B. (Donais) Farrar and lived in Douglas 41 years. She had been a resident of St. Camillus Health Center the past 11 years.
Mrs. Furno was primarily a homemaker, raising and caring for her family over the years. She also worked at GE Telechron in Ashland and the former Schuster Woolen Co. and Brookfield Shoe Co. both in Douglas. She was involved with the Douglas Grange and the Blackstone Valley 4H Club in her younger years. At St. Camillus she served on their Resident Council. She enjoyed crochet,word puzzles,NASCAR and the Boston Red Sox. Also Calrissa was an excellent cook, enjoyed lighthouses and bingo at St. Camillus.
Her funeral Mass will be held Sat. May 14, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of St. Camillus Health Center, 447 Hill St. Whitinsville. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetrery, West St. Douglas. Calling hours at the Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic St. Douglas are Fri. May 13 from 6 to 9 and Sat. May 14 in St. Camillus Chapel from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Camillus Activities Fund, 447 Hill St. Whitinsville, MA 01588
