St. Joseph's Cardinals take first place in EWLL

WOONSOCKET -- The St. Joseph’s Veterans Cardinals had a monster week, grabbing a pair of wins and taking over first place in East Woonsocket Little League Major Division.
In the first game, the Cards edged out the Rotary Club Red Sox 6-5. Jimmy Cabral threw the first two innings for the Cards, striking out four batters and allowing just one hit.
Caden Unwin pitched the next four innings, fanning four batters and allowing four his while earning the win. Unwin also led his team offensively, going 3-4 with a double, two singles and three RBI along with a walk-off RBI single to bring home Damien Medieros to end the game in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Also adding offense was Kyle St. Laurent with a double, Will Vescera had a pair of singles, Medeiros and Cabral each had a single.
For the Red Sox, Brittany Girard pitched well going 3 2/3 innings, striking out eight batters and giving up two hits. Noah Desplaines had a two-run double and T.J. Cahill contributed a single.
In the second game, the Cardinals beat the I.B.P.O Orioles 10-5 to grab first place.
Both teams were 7-3 going into this game. Medeiros started on the mound for the Cardinals. He pitched four innings, gave up two hits and struck out eight while picking up the win.
Cabral came in for relief and whiffed six with no hits over the last two innings. Kyle St. Laurent had a big game for the Cards, going 3-4 with an RBI triple and 2 RBI singles.
Kevin Fragoso added an RBI triple and a single. Jaelin Jackson chipped in with a double. Medeiros had a pair of singles and Vescera had a single.
For the Orioles, Tommy Bileau, Sean Flynn and Zhamaine Henderson shared mound duties. Makai Henderson and Flynn had rbi singles.

The EWLL Kay's Red Sox minors defeated the Michaud Auto Body Cardinal's, 9-3. Eric Buxton,Isaiah Lee,and Anthony Fantoni shared pitching duties, for the Red Sox’ only giving up 4 hits and 3 runs.
The bats came alive with 9 hits for Kay's Redsox's. The offensive stars for the Redsox's were Anthony Fantoni going 3-for-3 with a triple, double, and a single.
Alihaja Pare collected three singles. Isaiah Lee added a single and double. Eric Buxton contrtibuted two singles.

In a Minor Division game, Flock Tex continued its strong play by defeating Michaud Auto 6-2. Manny Cabral led the offense with a triple and a single. Austin Abramek, Isreal Tavares and Dan Gould all contributed a hit with an RBI. Erin McGuire let the way for Michaud with a single and an excellent defensive game at first base.
Flock Tex Yankees defeated the Kay's Orioles 7-5 in the battle for first place in EWLL minor division. Manny Cabral and Jacob Gauvin led the way for Flock Tex by each contributing two hits and an RBI apiece.
Kyle Deluca pitched 3 strong innings and striking out 6. Kay's was led by Anthony Fantoni who pitched 3 innings, striking out 5 and only allowing one run.
St Germain Trucking scored an 8-4 victory over Burrillville in softball action. Talia Williams hit balls into the outfield gaps to drive in 4 runs. Abbie Rodderick pitched an excellent games allowing only 4 runs in 6 innings of work.
Madision Hereth and Talia Williams both through out runners stealing bases to get out of jams. Holly Laterneau, Naneline Arenas, and Monica Almonte all had hits and stolen bases. Leah Fearing also contributed with walks and steals. Michaela Beaudion and Katie Champagne also contributed with excellent at bats.
