EAST PROVIDENCE- Arthur C. Bourassa, formerly of Woonsocket, died Saturday, April 30th, 2011 at Orchard View Manor in East Providence. He was the husband of the late Marie F. (Nicolatti) Bourassa who died in 2000.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Adolph and Anna (Harisenko) Bourassa. He was a resident of Woonsocket for most of his life.
Mr. Bourassa attended Woonsocket High School and was employed as a production manager for Providence Steel Inc.
In his youth Arthur played saxophone for the Eddie Wilson Band and provided musical enjoyment at numerous social events in the community. He also provided music every Sunday on radio station WWON for the Eddie Wilson Polka hour.
Arthur's innate musical abilities led him to be able to advance his musical talent to the point where he was recognized as an expert jazz critic. Over the years many jazz producers would seek Arthur's input on music in production. He also wrote articles for jazz magazines and managed worldwide performing jazz groups.
Mr. Bourassa was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Welding Society, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He was a charter member of the National Federation of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and the New England Crime Commission.
Mr. Bourassa is survived by his sisters, Arlene Stokes of NH and Gina Bourassa of South Carolina, a step-daughter Ann Verdone of NY, and his special friends Camilla and Mike Streeter of RI.
A committal service will be held Friday, May 20th, at 1:00 pm at Resurrection Cemetery, West Wrentham Rd., Cumberland. Visiting hours are omitted. Arrangements are by the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket.
